I was a little apprehensive about the Bare Face Cleansing Oil from Julep that was part of my September Maven box. I’ve been using a quasi-oil cleansing “method” to wash my face for awhile now and it’s been working for me so I hesitate to use any new/different face products.
But I gave it a go anyway.
I tried the Bare Face Cleansing Oil for about a week and at first I really liked it–it came off nicely and smelled great. Then an itchy area started up near my chin. Super annoying, super uncomfortable.
I’m not sure what exactly in the Bare Face Cleansing Oil I had a reaction to, but the itchiness was enough for me to stop using it and go back to my homemade concoction of oils (mostly olive oil, some castor oil, and a bit of jojoba oil). Once I went back to my oils the itchiness went away. Admittedly a part of me hoped that it wasn’t the Bare Face that was causing it… but I couldn’t think of anything else!
I just wish my oils smells as nice at the Bare Face Cleansing Oil. I may look into added some scented oils to it.
So far the Bare Face Cleansing Oil is the only thing I’m not thrilled with from my Julep Maven boxes… not counting the lipsticks that were in my Picnic Mystery box. I’m still loving the nail polishes!
